In late September, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in Thailand. As its name clearly suggests, the Redmi Note 6 Pro succeeds the Redmi Note 5 Pro that Xiaomi introduced earlier this year. Two months after its launch in Thailand, Xiaomi today launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in Indonesia. Along with the Redmi Note 5 Pro ( review) successor, Xiaomi has also launched the Mi 8 Lite smartphone in the country, the most affordable member of the Mi 8 family of smartphones. Apart from the two smartphones, Xiaomi Indonesia launched the Mi Band 3 and Mi Home Security Camera 360 as well.
Xiaomi has priced the Mi 8 Lite at 3,699,000 IDR in Indonesia, which translates to INR 18,200. It will be going on sale at Mi.com, Mi authorized stores, Lazada, Shopee, JD. ID, Blibli, and Akulaku starting November 11. The Mi 8 Lite will come in two colors: Midnight Black and Aurora Blue.
The Mi 8 Lite is a smartphone that has been designed for the younger generation. It features a 6.26-inch Full Screen display with 1080 x 2280 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Running under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 AIE processor clocked at up to 2.2 GHz, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
In terms of optics, the Mi 8 Lite sports a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear with the 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor featuring large 1.4um pixel size. The sensor comes with Dual Pixel autofocus technology and a bright f/1.9 aperture. For selfies, the Mi 8 Lite sports a 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor with 4-in-1 Super Pixel technology, AI Beautify, AI Portrait Mode, AI Video Beautify, and soft screen flash. Fueling the internals of the smartphone is a 3350mAh capacity battery, which Xiaomi claims can provide all-day battery life. The handset comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support as well, allowing the battery to be charged up to 55% in just 30 minutes.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro has been priced at IDR 2,899,000 (INR 14,200 approx.) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant and IDR 3,299,000 (INR 16,200 approx.) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. Both the variants will be available for purchase on Mi.com, Shopee, and authorized Mi stores starting November 11. The Redmi Note 6 Pro will be offered in three colors in Indonesia: Blue, Black, and Rose Gold.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro retains the key strengths of the Redmi Note 5 Pro while adding some new features that make it a slightly better smartphone overall. Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a larger 6.26-inch notched IPS LCD display with 1080 x 2280 pixels Full HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, however, Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 14nm octa-core processor.
In the camera department, Redmi Note 6 features a dual-camera setup on both sides.
