America will get its first glimpse of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on his nearly two-year investigation when the US Justice Department releases a redacted version on Thursday morning.
At nearly 400 pages, the hotly anticipated report — expected to be posted on the DOJ website — will be far too long for anyone to digest quickly, even with color-coded edits covering up classified information and other government secrets.
But for anyone who wants to quickly home in on major takeaways, here are some keywords sure to help with a Control+F search:
“McGahn” — Mueller’s investigators interviewed then-White House Counsel Don McGahn at least three times for a total of 30 hours, and he revealed the advice he gave Trump to deal with his anger over the probe, including Trump’s desire to fire Mueller, the New York Times reported in August. Trump son-in-law and special adviser Jared Kushner also attended the meeting. Barr has said he’ll leave the names of “public office holders” in Mueller’s report but redact those of “peripheral third parties,” so a better search term may be “Trump Tower meeting.”
“Air Force One” — Following the revelation of the Trump Tower meeting, Trump “dictated” a statement for his son, Don Jr., to give the New York Times, according to a confidential memo his lawyers gave Mueller in January 2018.
