CINCINNATI – A 2-year-old Doberman Pinscher, brought to the Animal Friends Humane Society in Butler County, Ohio, last week with open sores in and on his skeletal frame, was so hungry, he ate rocks, x-rays showed.
Named Lucifer by his owner and renamed “Lou,” the dog received five days of love and medical care before he died, succumbing to his condition some time Friday or early Saturday, the humane society said.
The group posted on Facebook after midnight Saturday morning to thousands of people following this story.
“Our sweet Lou fought a hard battle, but ultimately lost the fight,” the humane society wrote. “We are so proud of how brave and strong he was these last 5 days.
