President Donald Trump honored track and field legend Jim Ryun on Friday, awarding him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Ryun, a three-time Olympian, was the first high school student to break the four-minute barrier in the mile run. He also served as a Republican Congressman from his home state of Kansas for a decade, from 1996-2006. Ryun, who admitted that he had struggled to find his niche early on, said that he was cut from every sports team he tried out for — even one at his church.
