Minnesota recorded a daily record high for new coronavirus cases Thursday and state Department of Health officials noted the number was boosted by a delay in results from a single lab. The 1,158 cases reported Thursday included 265 positive tests from Valley Medical. Daily test result reporting has been affected a couple times by lab backlogs; the previous daily high number of cases was about 900 new infections. In a statement, state health officials said they received a backlog of nearly 19,000 coronavirus test results from Valley Medical after following up with the lab when they noticed a delay in reporting results.
