The ongoing U.S. pressure on suppliers will prevent Huawei from making flagship Kirin chipsets, forcing the Chinese giant to look for alternatives
This year could be the last for flagship Kirin chipsets, as Huawei reportedly states that the U. S. is making things very difficult for suppliers to provide the Chinese giant with key components that allow it to develop technology for premium smartphones. With Huawei no longer being able to develop flagship Kirin SoCs, it could mean the company will have to rely on companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek. Financial magazine Caixin reported on a Saturday that the development of flagship Kirin chipsets will be brought to a halt thanks to U. S. pressure being applied on Chinese tech companies.
