Rochester, New York, Mayor Lovely Warren announced Thursday that the seven officers involved in Daniel Prude’s death have been suspended with pay, nearly six months after police arrested and restrained him with a hood over his head, the latest death of a Black man in police custody to spark national outrage. Prude was suffering from a mental health episode at the time of his death and had reportedly been taken to the local hospital hours earlier for suicidal thoughts.
