US Senate Panel Announces October 12 Supreme Court Confirmation Hearing

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee announced on Monday that it would open a confirmation hearing for President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, on Oct.12, making clear that an outbreak of COVID-19 will not interfere with the schedule. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, the committee’s chairman, announced that the hearing would start at 9 a.m. EDT (1300 GMT) on Oct 12. Opening the Senate on Monday, Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the hearing would be in a hybrid format – with some members connecting remotely – because of the coronavirus.
