Alabama man ordered to prison after being found guilty of DUI manslaughter in 2019 crash

FORT PIERCE — An Alabama man charged with DUI manslaughter related to a 2019 crash will serve up to 14 years in prison as part of a plea deal approved by a judge, court records show. Michiah Lee Jackson,27, of Springville, Alabama, was accused of causing a three-car crash on Dec.15,2019 that killed Anthony Michael Lara,32, of Port St. Lucie. During a hearing Tuesday, Jackson pleaded no contest to charges of DUI manslaughter, DUI with property damage and DUI with injuries. In exchange, the state dropped a vehicular manslaughter charge. Port St. Lucie police arrest reports show Jackson was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram Pickup southbound on Port St. Lucie Boulevard around 2:24 a.m. when he rammed into the back of a 2014 Kia Sol stopped at a red light at Southeast Tunis Avenue.
