The free trial for the MMO has also been suspended.
Massively-multiplayer online game Final Fantasy 14 has become so popular, Square Enix decided the only way it can hope to cope is by suspending sales of the game. As Eurogamer reports, the latest Endwalker expansion for the game has caused a huge surge in popularity to the point where there’s “ongoing congestion” and long wait times to play. In response, Square Enix initially offered active players who own the full game an extra seven days of game time, but that has now been extended to 14 days. Naoki Yoshida, Producer and Director of the game, also revealed that sales of both the physical and digital versions of the game have been suspended temporarily, and the free trial disabled.
