Kings have won consecutive games for the third time this season.
LOS ANGELES –– The Kings kicked off 2022 with a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena, moving to 2-0 since the building’s name changed and winning consecutive games for the third time this season. The line of Phillip Danault, Viktor Arvidsson and Trevor Moore spearheaded the effort. Arvidsson and Moore had four points apiece, while Danault equaled his career high as a King with three points. Wingers Adrian Kempe and Brendan Lemieux lit the lamp for the Kings, while defenseman Drew Doughty contributed two assists. Jonathan Quick made 34 saves. The victory was the 500th of Todd McLellan’s coaching career. Winger Joel Farabee, center Kevin Hayes and defenseman Ivan Provorov scored for Philadelphia. Farabee added an assist, center Claude Giroux had two and winger Cam Atkinson assisted on all three Philadelphia goals. Former Kings goalie Martin Jones ceded five goals on 33 shots. Philadelphia got a goal back with 3:59 to play on a long shot through traffic by Provorov. The Kings wrapped up the win with 8:43 remaining. Arvidsson sent a long pass up the right-wing boards for Moore, whose centering pass found Danault open in tight for a swift redirection. Philadelphia earned a two-man advantage and turned it into a three-man advantage by pulling the goalie less than three minutes into the third period.
