“I’ve been on the phone with them every day.”
The school district police chief who was on-site during last week’s mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas said he’s still cooperating with state and federal investigations of the massacre and the local police response. Several reports Tuesday claimed Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District police chief Pete Arredondo had stopped speaking to Texas Department of Public Safety investigators after one of that agency’s spokespersons criticized Arredondo’s response to the shooting which saw police allegedly wait close to an hour and a half for reinforcements before storming the classroom the shooter was in, despite the shooter continuing to fire and children calling 911 to beg for help. Ultimately, 19 children and two teachers were killed.
