United Airlines said that it had temporarily delayed all domestic flights and would issue an update once it learned more from the FAA.
Flight operations were returning to normal at Detroit Metro, and other airports nationwide, after hundreds of flights were delayed early Wednesday morning as a result of a vital computer system failure. The Federal Aviation Administration since said it has been corrected.
“Operations are returning to normal, as stated by the FAA,” Erica Donerson, Wayne County Airport Authority’s vice president of communications said. “However, we’re still encouraging customers to check their flight status with their airline before heading to Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.”
It was unclear how many flights were affected in Michigan, but flight tracking sight, FlightView, reported earlier Wednesday that gate holds and taxi delays at Detroit Metropolitan Airport were up to 15 minutes and airborne delays for arrival traffic also up to 15 minutes.
