Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in an interview that Russian President Vladimir Putin promised not to kill his counterpart, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in the early days of the Kremlin’s invasion of its neighbor.
In a nearly five-hour podcast interview with Israeli journalist Hanoch Daum, Bennett said he asked Putin if he had intentions to kill Zelensky during a meeting at the start of the war.
“I asked ‘what’s with this? Are you planning to kill Zelenskyy?’ He said ‘I won’t kill Zelenskyy.’ I then said to him ‘I have to understand that you’re giving me your word that you won’t kill Zelenskyy.
