At least 85 people were killed in a stampede in the Yemeni capital Sanaa. More than 300 people were injured including 13 who were in critical conditions. The tragic incident occurred when hundreds gathered in a school to receive aid, about $9 per person, during the distribution of charitable donations by merchants in the final days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan without coordination with local officials. Armed Houthis fired into the air in an attempt at crowd control, apparently striking an electrical wire and causing it to explode.
