Tamil Nadu plans more IT parks

From Coimbatore to Madurai to Trichy and even Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu has drawn up plans to expand IT infra across the state anticipating demand from companies seeking to move closer to talent post Covid.
Not just that, construction of a 2.33 lakh sqft IT tower at Sholinganallur (Chennai), 2.66 lakh sqft IT tower at Vilankurichi (Coimbatore) and 1.16 lakh sqft IT tower at Navalpattu (Trichy) is almost done.“The feasibility studies are almost ready. We intend to quickly start work on the new IT towers,” Aneesh Sekhar, MD, Elcot, told . “The emphasis is on ‘green’ parks with plans to plant a minimum 1 lakh trees across our SEZs this year,” he adds.Srinivas Anikipatti, senior director, Tamil Nadu & Kerala, Knight Frank India, says investing in infrastructure such as Tidel and Elcot SEZs is a positive step by the state to attract businesses and promote economic growth in tier-2 locations.The demand for Grade A office spaces is quite tangible outside Chennai, though skewed towards Coimbatore and Madurai. US and Co imbatore-based response management software Responsive (formerly RFPIO) has around 200 staff in Coimbatore today and is likely to choose a government-owned IT park in the city for its expansion.
