Ann Arbor — Michigan Stadium, all dressed up for its first night game of the season, got to show off its new LED light system. That was pretty much the highlight of the first half for the Wolverines.
The No. 2 Wolverines overcame three first-half turnovers and an off game from quarterback J.J. McCarthy to defeat Bowling Green, 31-6, Saturday night in their final nonconference game of the season.
Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Sherrone Moore was the interim head coach for this game, as head coach Jim Harbaugh was not on the sideline for the last time as part of a three-game self-imposed suspension relating to an NCAA investigation. Harbaugh will return for the Big Ten opener against Rutgers next Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

McCarthy, who entered the game leading the nation with an 87.3 completion percentage — he had missed only seven attempts — was 8 of 13 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns but had three interceptions, his first of the season. His third interception came with 49 seconds left in the third quarter when he threw errantly on the run.
Michigan’s run game, which had raised questions the first two weeks, got a boost when Blake Corum rushed for more than 100 yards this season. Corum had 12 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns, and Michigan finished with 312 yards, including 169 rushing.
Alan Anaya gave Bowling Green, coached by former Michigan quarterback and quarterback coach Scot Loeffler, its only points on field goals of 36 and 42 yards. Anaya missed a 36-yard attempt with 11 seconds left in the game.
The Wolverines had three-first half turnovers — they fumbled two kickoffs and recovered one — but turned the tables in the second half as they forced back-to-back turnovers on Bowling Green’s first two possessions.
