The sweeping nationwide stoppage came just after the long Labor Day weekend in the U.S.
All United Airlines flights across the U.S. have been grounded, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The FAA issued the alert at around 1 p.m. ET on Tuesday, just after the long Labor Day weekend.
