Chat App Omegle Calls It Quits After 14 Years, Slew of Lawsuits

‘Omegle is no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically,’ its founder says.
Omegle, which randomly paired up people for video-based chats, is pulling the plug.
“Operating Omegle is no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically,” founder Leif K-Brooks writes in a lengthy goodbye post.
The site dates back to 2009 when K-Brooks looked to introduce “a form of social spontaneity that I felt didn’t exist elsewhere,” he says. “Omegle was meant to be a way of strolling down a street in that village, striking up conversations with the people you ran into along the way.”
Unfortunately, some of those people on the virtual road had bad intentions.
