A “Pineapple Express” is expected to bring light to heavy rain showers to portions of California this week, and no, we’re not referring to the 2008 film “Pineapple Express” starring Seth Rogen and James Franco.
This version of “Pineapple Express” is an atmospheric river that builds up in the tropical Pacific, according to the National Weather Service.
An NWS forecast posted Wednesday morning says a “plume of moisture” will move along the West Coast and transition into Southern California overnight Wednesday, which is expected to create heavy rain across the region and state.
“Furthermore, the moisture will also create snow over parts of Northern/Central California,” the forecast said. “The Shasta and Sierra Nevada mountains will get heavy snow from late Wednesday morning into Thursday morning.
