'Seinfeld' star Michael Richards shares private battle with prostate cancer: 'I probably would have been dead'

Michael Richards, who played Cosmo Kramer on “Seinfeld,” privately battled prostate cancer six years ago. He says that had he not taken swift action, he likely would have been dead.
Since his racist outburst nearly two decades ago, “Seinfeld” actor Michael Richards has remained predominately out of the spotlight. Earlier this month, he returned to the red carpet for the first time in eight years to support his former co-star Jerry Seinfeld at the premiere of his new movie.
But next month, those private years of Richards’ life will be made accessible with the release of his memoir, “Entrances and Exits.” In his book, the actor reveals that he quietly battled prostate cancer.
He spoke with People magazine about the devastating diagnosis, which came in 2018, admitting that he had reconciled with death very early.
