Many Pokemon resemble real-life animals, monsters, or objects, but these Pokemon resemble a bunch of smaller Pokemon all stuck together.
Studying the flora and fauna of the world of Pokemon is a lot like studying real-life biology. Over time, like animals, Pokemon evolve to suit their environment, except on a much shorter timespan, and a Pokemon’s environment is usually a sequence of battles that go on until one side is unconscious. Like real-life evolution, some Pokemon take on larger bodies and more dangerous traits. But just like humans, some Pokemon evolve to work in collectives, allowing groups to succeed where one would fail. This tends to occur in the games once a Pokemon reaches a high enough level. Another explanation is that some or all of these Pokemon partially split like cells, resulting in a new life form double or triple the size of the old.
Either way, these Pokemon have never been grouped by an element or regarded as a special type, but there have been enough throughout the series that by now, there should be a Pokemon professor out there making this phenomenon their dedicated area of study. For this list, only Pokemon made of the same type of evolutionary line count. Combinations of one large and one small Pokemon, like Slowbro, or multi-headed Pokemon, like Dudrio, are disqualified. Collective Pokemon whose components are not counted as Pokemon, such as Combee or Falinks, won’t be counted either. Although Exegguter seems like a fit, its mysterious tree body seems to connect it to a different evolutionary process, and as such, it won’t be allowed to join this collection of collectives. This trio of attractive magnets makes the most sense thematically. If a bunch of magnets is thrown together in real life, an electromagnetic force will hold them together. Magneton’s various Pokedex entries highlight Magneton’s intense magnetic field, a force powerful enough to disrupt sensitive electronics, dry up moisture in the air, and even invoke a thunderstorm.
A Magnmite may not be up to much alone, but with two friends, it can become one of the most powerful electric Pokemon in the wild. Although its creation is described as a cluster, a player’s Magnemite will evolve into a Magneton at level 30. A possible explanation might be that at this level, the pull of the Magnemite is so strong that two wild variants of the equivalent levels are drawn to it either instinctively or through magnetic resonance.
