On Saturday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers downgraded franchise quarterback Jordan Love from questionable to doubtful for their game against Indianapolis on Sunday. The Packers also elevated quarterback Sean Clifford from the practice squad to the active gameday roster.
So barring any major surprises, Willis — who was traded to Green Bay just 19 days ago — will be the Packers’ starting quarterback when they host Indianapolis Sunday at noon.
Love suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in Green Bay’s Week 1 loss to Philadelphia. LaFleur said Wednesday that the door was “pretty open” for Love to play against the Colts.
Then on Friday, the Packers listed Love as questionable and LaFleur said, “He’s doing good, you know. He’s got a great attitude and is working hard and getting better every day.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said earlier this week that Love was targeting a return date of Week 4, when the Packers host Minnesota. If that projection holds true, Willis would make his first start since Dec. 24, 2022, and just the fourth of his career.
