A newly surfaced rumor narrows down the release window of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, AMD’s unannounced CPU for high-end desktop PCs.
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is targeting a late October or early November 2024 release window, according to a newly surfaced rumor. AMD’s upcoming CPU will reportedly be the first of three new X3D processors that are planned to hit the market in the near future.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the rumored successor to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which originally debuted back in April 2023. The X3D in its moniker is a reference to AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology, which stacks extra cache memory directly on top of a CPU. Adding more ultra-fast storage to a processor configuration benefits a wide variety of applications and is particularly useful for multitasking, in addition to potentially improving gaming performance.
