Israel’s military said Tuesday it killed a senior Hezbollah commander who was involved in the transfer of weapons from Iran to the Lebanon-based militant group.
The Israel Defense Forces said an airstrike Monday on Beirut killed Suhail Husseini, and it described him as overseeing logistics and management for Hezbollah.
The strike came 10 days after an Israeli attack killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah amid a push that Israel says is aimed at removing the threat of Hezbollah from the Israeli-Lebanon border.
Israel carried out airstrikes on two fronts Monday, targeting Hamas positions across the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon as the country marked one year since a Hamas attack on southern Israel sparked a war that now threatens to engulf the entire region.

In Gaza, the targets included Hamas rocket-launching positions. Hamas said Monday it fired rockets at Tel Aviv, Israel’s second-largest city, and areas near several border crossings in southern Israel.
Israel reported air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and in central Israel in response to projectiles fired from Gaza.
Early Monday, the Israeli military told residents in four areas of the southern Gaza Strip to move to the so-called humanitarian area on the coast at al-Mawasi, saying terrorist actions by Hamas in that area would be met “with extreme force.” Residents of northern Gaza are also under evacuation orders, and the United Nations said those orders are putting pressure on more than 400,000 Palestinians to move to al-Mawasi, which is already overcrowded.
In southern Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said 100 of its jets struck more than 120 Hezbollah targets. Hezbollah sites in the country’s eastern Beqaa Valley were also targeted.
Monday evening, the IDF issued warnings to fishermen and other people in the area of the Awali River, banning them from the beach and the sea in that area and south of it “until further notice.
