Seven key battleground states hold 93 Electoral College votes, with Pennsylvania as the most coveted and largest swing state.
Five days ahead of an extraordinarily tight presidential race, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are campaigning to secure 270 Electoral College votes needed to claim the presidency—an outcome likely to hinge on a handful of pivotal swing states.
The focus of the 2024 presidential election has largely been on the seven battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina. Cumulatively, the states boast 93 Electoral College votes.
Vice President Harris is predicted to secure at least 226 Electoral College votes from states she is favored in, while former President Trump is projected to garner 219 Electoral College votes outside of swing states, according to 270 to Win and The Cook Political Report.
There are several paths for the candidates to secure the Oval Office depending on who these “toss up” states fall to, with Pennsylvania as the most coveted state.

Harris’ clearest path to victory would be to win the three “Blue Wall” battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, barring any shock results elsewhere. The 44 Electoral College votes would put the Democratic nominee exactly at 270.
