Tropical cyclone Ofel (international name: Usagi) intensified into a severe tropical storm on Tuesday afternoon and is forecast to steadily intensify within three days, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa said that Ofel was last located some 780 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west-northwestward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph). It was now carrying a maximum wind speed of 95 kph and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
