Take-Two sells off ‘Private Division’ publishing arm

Over the past six years or so, Take-Two has operated its own indie publishing label, known as Private Division. Over time, Private Division supported games like The Outer Worlds, Roll7 and Kerbal Space Program. Now, following on from Take-Two’s major acquisition of Gearbox Software, the company is selling off Private Division.
Take-Two confirmed that Private Division has been sold off as part of the company’s earnings call this week. Elaborating on the news in an interview with Variety, Take-Two CEO, Struass Zelnick, labelled this is a “strategic decision” in an effort to “focus resources on growing the core businesses” – essentially, the AAA studios under Take-Two needed more money, leaving little left over to support independent developers looking for help releasing their projects.
