After a year of preparation, Amazon officially kicked off its expansion into the auto market today by offering Hyundai vehicles on Amazon.com and its app.
The new business, dubbed Amazon Autos, will let customers “browse, order, finance, and schedule pickup” of a Hyundai vehicle. But for now, Amazon car sales are limited to 48 US cities, including Boston, New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
On the downside, it doesn’t seem like Prime subscribers get any added perks for buying a vehicle through Amazon. The company also won’t deliver the cars to buyers’ houses.
