Jonathan Majors told the Hollywood Reporter about when he first learned he was dropped by Marvel – as actors like Matthew McConaughey and Michael B. Jordan speak out to support the embattled actor.
Jonathan Majors is facing a major uphill battle.
The “Creed III” actor sat down with the Hollywood Reporter this week to give his first interview since being convicted on assault and harassment charges against his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
During his chat with the outlet, Majors — whose big bad Marvel villain was set to get a spinoff film — revealed how he learned the colossal studio fired him and, for the first time, shared that he was sexually abused as a child.
According to the “Magazine Dreams” star, he learned of his Marvel firing from a member of his team immediately after a Manhattan jury found him guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment in December 2023.
In his interview with THR published on Friday, Majors said, “He goes, ‘I’m just gonna tell you now, that way you’re not surprised, and you can start processing it. They fired you. Marvel fired you.’”
However, despite being dropped by Marvel and from a slew of other film and television roles in the wake of his legal woes, the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” star has not given up hope on redemption and an eventual return to the big screen.
