Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato learned quickly that they were better off as friends.
Jonas and Lovato first connected early in their careers when they starred in the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock. The pair played love interests onscreen, but their real-life romance didn’t start until they filmed the sequel two years later. The real-life relationship didn’t last for long, however, and the pair broke up after just a couple of months of dating.
“Demi and I knew going into our romantic relationship that it may not be an easy one,” Jonas said of their split via a statement to Us Weekly in May 2010. “I realize over the time we have shared together that I feel I care more about our friendship right now. It was my choice to break up, but I love her as a friend. She’s been there for me when I needed her.
