Recently, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released high resolution images captured by its GOES-16 satellite. In this image of the Western Hemisphere, you can spot Michigan peeking out from the clouds covering much of the rest of the U. S.
This image was captured on Jan. 15 from 22,300 miles above the surface.
According to NOAA, the GOES-16 «will capture higher-resolution images of weather patterns and atmospheric phenomena than any of NOAA’s GOES satellites to-date, thereby allowing forecasters to pinpoint the location of severe weather with greater accuracy, ultimately saving lives. «
