A college student, Michael Fujiwara, captured the event on video.
A man quickly rescued a little girl after a sea lion grabbed the back of the child’s dress and yanked her off a dock in a Vancouver, British Columbia suburb.
The little girl was on a dock in Richmond where people were feeding the animal breadcrumbs when the attack occurred, according to the Associated Press.
A college student, Michael Fujiwara, captured the event on video. The sea lion can be seen swimming near the dock, and people laugh as it gets close to the girl. Then the animal jumps up, grabs the back of the girl’s dress and pulls her off the dock and under the water in an instant, the video shows.
A man jumps in to rescue the girl, and bystanders pull both of them back onto the dock.
The little girl did not appear to be injured and was seen walking away with adults.
Andrew Trites, a marine mammal expert, said the sea lion likely thought the girl’s dress was food, the AP said.
