DETROIT (WXYZ) — Spirit Airlines continues with problems that have been grounding flights for a week.
Passenger frustrations boiled over last night in Ft. Lauderdale where 9 flights where canceled and police were called in.
The 7 Investigators obtained an email from the Spirit President and CEO to employees saying their trouble is the result of “an unlawful campaign by the Airline Pilots Association to purposely disrupt operations.” And that the airline has filed suit to stop it.
The union denies any wrong doing.
Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago-O’ Hare and Las Vegas have had the most Spirit cancelations. The total has grown to 300 in a week.
Nikki Lawson was hoping to leave Detroit to pick up her daughter in New Orleans and come back the next day. One flight going out from Detroit to New Orleans Tuesday morning and one coming in the afternoon were canceled.
April Rock was trying to fly home to Los Angeles and could not get good information since Tuesday night on the status of her flight so she came to Metro Airport. A Spirit flight to LA at 8: 05 was canceled.
Jean Madison was supposed to fly home to Ft. Worth on Tuesday and her flight was canceled.
She spent the night in an airport hotel, got her nails done and said she feels the pain of the passengers in Ft. Lauderdale who all just want to get home.
