As the fallout from President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey continues, several Cabinet officials will appear on the Sunday show circuit, though the lineup does not include an individual from the White House press shop.
The Administration began interviews for Comey’s replacement on Saturday, talking with eight candidates for the role.
Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers have expressed concern over Trump’s decision to fire Comey last Tuesday.
The White House, which has offered varying reasons for Comey’s dismissal, will not be sending a member from its communications department to make the rounds on this week’s shows.
Trump on Tuesday sent shockwaves through Washington when he fired Comey, who was leading the FBI’s probe into Russia’s attempts to interfere in the U. S. presidential election and any possible ties between Trump campaign staff and Russia.
