North Korea conducted its ninth missile launch overnight; Trump also responded to murders on Portland train
President Trump responded to North Korea’s overnight ballistic missile launch with a tweet suggesting China, an ally of North Korea, was “shown great disrespect” by the act. ” [B] ut China, ” he added, “is trying hard.”
North Korea has shown great disrespect for their neighbor, China, by shooting off yet another ballistic missile…but China is trying hard!
North Korea’s missile launch is the latest in an escalating series of tests. The newest missile was launched from the country’s east coast, flying about 280 miles before landing in the sea off the coast of Japan. The missile appears to be a short-range ballistic scud missile that Japan said could have easily hit an airplane or a ship in the area. Increasing pressure from the U. S. and China has so far been ineffective in convincing North Korea to slow down its missile tests. This is the ninth missile test the North has conducted this year — with three in just the past three weeks.
Mr. Trump also tweeted from his @potus account to condemn an attack on a Portland train, in which three men were stabbed by a man who was yelling racial slurs at two young women, one of whom was wearing a hijab.
The violent attacks in Portland on Friday are unacceptable. The victims were standing up to hate and intolerance. Our prayers are w/ them.
Two of the men, Ricky John Best, 53, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23, were killed in the incident. The third man, Micah David-Cole Fletcher, 21, is in serious condition at a Portland hospital, police said.
