An Antioch motorcyclist suspected of vandalizing multiple cars he sped past on the highway over several days was busted when a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew spotted him in the act and tracked his bright-green bike to his home, officials said Monday.
The 29-year-old man, Eric Winston Poole Jr., spent at least three days last week racing down the highway on a lime-green Kawasaki at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, slowing down only to kick, punch and smash the side view mirrors of vehicles he was passing, the CHP officials said.
Poole Jr.’s alleged lawless behavior was reported Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on eastbound Highway 24 in Orinda, northbound and southbound Interstate 680, and eastbound Highway 4 heading toward Antioch, said Officer Brandon Correia, a CHP spokesman.
A helicopter tracked the distinctive motorcycle to Poole Jr.’s home and he was arrested about 6: 42 p.m. Thursday on suspicion of reckless driving and vandalism, according to Correia.
The green motorcycle was also impounded, he said.
“The registration was expired and suspended for 6 years, so it’s probably going to be impounded for quite a while, ” Correia said.
Investigators are still working to determine how many drivers were affected by motorcyclist’s alleged antics, he added.
CHP asks anyone whose vehicle was damaged by a man on a green motorcycle last week to call them at (925) 646-4980 and make a report.
