HP today “unleveled the playing field” by introducing a range of Windows 10-powered gaming PCs under the OMEN brand, along with accessories such as a monitor, headset, mouse, keyboard, and more.
HP today announced a “cutting-edge and comprehensive portfolio of OMEN by HP gaming products.” The company says that everything has been redesigned and re-engineered “from the ground up”, and they’re aimed at “esports athletes” and competitive gamers so that they can have the edge that they need.
First, there are two new laptops, the OMEN 15 and 17. They offer everything that you’d expect from high-end gaming laptops, with up to a quad-core seventh-generation Intel Core i7, a multi-fan/multi-heat pipe/multi-exhaust thermal solution, and Bang & Olufsen audio with HP Audio Boost technology.
There’s an option for a 4K display, but you can also get a 1080p 120Hz screen with Nvidia G-Sync or a 1080p 60Hz display with AMD FreeSync. Those graphics can be powered by up to an AMD Radeon RX 550 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 in the 15-inch model, and an AMD Radeon RX 580 or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 in the 17-inch model. Those should be enough to push games at 1080p in the smaller variant, or 1440p in the larger one.
Both devices will be available on June 28 from HP.com and Best Buy, with the OMEN 15 starting at $999.99 and the 17 starting at $1,099.
Next up is the OMEN X Compact Desktop, which is “built with a clear focus on pushing the limits of hardware in a small package.” It comes with seventh-generation Intel Core i7 unlocked CPU options, and offers a factory-overclocked Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 GPU, which HP says will provide the power necessary for gaming in 4K.
There are also full docking capabilities, which should “allow gamers to simply drop the OMEN X into the included docking station and instantly connect to a range of their favorite gaming accessories without worrying about a mess of multiple cables.” These accessories include a VR backpack accessory, which costs $599.99.
The OMEN X will be available in July from HP.com starting at $2,499.
The OMEN Accelerator is meant to turn any Thunderbolt 3-enabled PC into a gaming rig. This might be particularly popular, given that Thunderbolt 3 is about to get much more popular with upcoming Intel CPU integration.
It can be preconfigured with an Nvidia or AMD graphics card, and either a 1TB HDD or 256GB SSD. The OMEN Accelerator will be available in August from HP.com, starting at $299.99.
Available today, the OMEN Desktop is the powerhouse of the range. CPU options are an unlocked Core i5, i7, or an overclockable AMD Ryzen. But that’s not all, as graphics power can be up to a dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or dual AMD Radeon RX 580.
The beastly OMEN Desktop is available from HP.com starting at $899.99.
There are two new monitors, the OMEN Display 25 and 27, which are 1080p and 1440p, respectively. The smaller model has a 144Hz refresh rate, and uses AMD FreeSync technology, whereas the larger one is 165Hz, with Nvidia G-Sync.
These devices will be available on June 26 from HP.com, with the OMEN 25 starting at $279.99 and the 27 starting at $799.99.
Finally, there’s a new range of OMEN accessories. The OMEN Keyboard 1100 has mechanical keys and N-key rollover for anti-ghosting, and the OMEN Mouse 600 has customizable weight features and added durability. The OMEN Headset 800 promises “increased comfort and sound clarity” with thicker ear cups and better acoustic performance.
The accessories are available today from HP.com, with the OMEN Headset coming in at $79.99, the Keyboard priced at $129.99, and $59.99 for the Mouse.
