An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 shook the central Japan prefecture of Nagano on Sunday morning, the weather agency said.
The quake at 7: 02 a.m. originated at a shallow depth of seven kilometers in the mountainous region and registered upper 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in Otaki and Kiso in the prefecture, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
