Miles Teller might not think he makes much of an arresting presence, but the San Diego Police Department begs to differ.
“Fantastic Four” star Teller took to Twitter on Monday to deny reports that he was arrested on a drunk in public charge in San Diego early Sunday, stating that he was merely detained.
“Went down to SD to see my buddy before he deployed. I wasn’ t arrested I was detained bc there was no evidence to charge me with a crime, ” Teller tweeted.
“Don’ t believe everything you read, especially from a third party entertainment news source trying to get clicks, ” the actor added. “Appreciate the concern.”
This would be news to the San Diego Police Department. Following Teller’s Twitter pronouncement, a spokesman for the department re-affirmed to TheWrap, “ Miles Teller was arrested and booked for drunk in public into San Diego Central Jail.”

According to police, an officer made contact with Teller and other males at 12: 26 a.m. on Sunday, and noticed that the actor showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, slurring his speech and swaying from side to side.
Teller was detained for further evaluation, during which time he lost his balance and nearly fell into the street, police said.
Teller was transported to a detox facility, where he had the opportunity to dry out for four hours. However, according to police, the actor refused to follow directions and the staff rejected him from the facility, leading to his drunk in public arrest.
Teller’s publicist has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
