EA unveiled FIFA 18 at its EA Play event today, announcing the return of Alex Hunter in The Journey single-player mode. The game is once again being developed on the Frostbite engine.
The upcoming FIFA 18 arriving later this year was showcased at the EA Play event today, which already received a reveal trailer earlier this week, unveiling the Real Madrid football club star, Cristiano Ronaldo as the cover athlete for this year’s title.
Last year’s FIFA game introduced ‘The Journey’ single-player mode for the series, where players took control of Alex Hunter, a football star, in his rise in the Premier League. As the mode proved to be highly popular among fans, The Journey is making a return on the new game, continuing Alex Hunter’s story where it left off last year.
The announcement arrived with a brand new teaser trailer in tow, seen above, where quite a number of football stars and prominent figures make appearances commenting on an apparent transfer of Alex Hunter.
Continuing last year’s trend, the game is being developed on the Frostbite engine of Battlefield 1 and Mass Effect Andromeda fame, with further improvements to how the game handles, as well as the atmosphere.
FIFA 18 will be available in stores worldwide on September 29 for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Keep in mind that the Switch, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will not feature the Frostbite engine, nor The Journey single-player mode.
