Area roundup: Jay County Fair to welcome country stars July 13

PORTLAND — The Jay County Fair will feature country music star Jerrod Niemann as the July 13 concert headliner, with Trent Harmon, the reigning “American Idol” winner, as the opening act.
Niemann’s hit songs include the duet “A little more love” with his friend and labelmate Lee Brice, and his platinum-certified multi-week number-one smash “Drink to that all night.”
Harmon who won the 2016 “American Idol” competition on national television, entered the Billboard hot country songs chart with “Falling.” He is best known for his hit “There’s a girl.”
Tickets for the Jerrod Niemann and Trent Harmon country music night at the Jay County Fair are available through ticketweb.com, with the ticket order form on the Jay County Fair website www.jaycountyfair.com, or by calling the fair office, 260-726-9616. Ticket prices are $50 for the Pit, $39 for the track seating and $29 for the grandstand.

MUNCIE — Ball State University’s Dr. Joe and Alice Rinard Orchid Greenhouse will offer a “Mid-Summer Night’s Dream” program 7-8: 30 p.m. July 8 with Muncie Ballet Studio.
Visitors of all ages are invited to attend dressed as their favorite fairy or sprite for fairy tours, light refreshments, prizes and a whimsical wand-making craft. Registration not required.
The program will be at the Rinard Orchid Greenhouse, located in Christy Woods on the Ball State campus. Parking will be available near Christy Woods, with no permit required on Saturdays. Information: 765-285-8839.
PORTLAND — E & B Paving has started work on a $3 million pavement repair and resurfacing project on more than six miles of U. S. 27 north of Portland and through Bryant.
Milling and paving were scheduled to begin this week after the Independence Day holiday. Drivers in the area should be alert for flaggers directing traffic around work crews. All work on this project is expected to be complete by October, according to a release from the Indiana Department of Transportation.
