When police arrived to the home, they found the victim dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. A loaded gun was also discovered at the residence.

Authorities said Vanders confessed to shooting his girlfriend, saying they had gotten into an argument and she had been “acting crazy.”
“While being transported to the police station for interviewing, the defendant made several additional spontaneous statements to an officer stating that the victim was abusive towards him and was acting crazy the night prior, ” court documents read.
Vanders also reportedly told officers to talk to his girlfriend’s family and friends to prove that shooting her was “understandable.”
“The defendant told the officer that jail time would be worth it because the victim would not be abusing him any longer, ” the document stated.
Vanders was charged with murder in the second-degree in connection with the shooting.
