The movie brings to life the 1962 novel by Jennifer Lee about a troubled young girl who gets transported through different dimensions by way of a paranormal phenomenon.
“A Wrinkle in Time” is being directed by veteran filmmaker Ava DuVernay, who with the movie becomes the first woman of color to direct a live-action flick featuring a budget of more than $100 million. (Its budget is $103 million.)
It’s the latest film collaboration for DuVernay and Winfrey, who worked together on the 2014 historical drama “Selma” about the voting rights marches in Alabama led by Martin Luther King Jr., James Bevel, Hosea Williams and John Lewis in 1965. That movie was nominated at the 2015 Academy Awards for Best Picture, which was won by “Birdman.”
“A Wrinkle in Time” will transport to movie theater screens on March 9,2018.
