Watergate prosecutor says Jared Kushner's Russia statements sound like lies: report

A Watergate prosecutor who has criticized President Donald Trump told MSNBC that Jared Kushner’s explanations for his contacts with Russians during last year’s presidential campaign election sound like lies. Jill Wine-Banks said an 11-page statement from Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser, combined with Kushner’s statements about meeting the Russians, are “blatantly ridiculous.”
Kushner reportedly tried to set up a direct line of communication between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. He has denied colluding with Russia.
“There are so many questions, ” Wine-Banks said Monday night (July 24) on the cable television network’s “The Last Word” program. “And almost everything when you really probe it — even though it sounds credible when you first read it — when you think about it, you want to tear your hair out and think, ‘These are just lies, they are not believable.'”
