There’s talk she’ll do a raunchy puppet show as part of her VMA performance.
Behind-the-scenes drama appears to be brewing ahead of Miley Cyrus ‘buzzed-about VMAs performance on Sunday.
Diane Martel — who directed Cyrus’ new “Younger Now” video and is involved with the pop star’s VMA gig — was overheard at LA’s Four Seasons Cabana Restaurant loudly lamenting that Cyrus’ team can’ t agree on how she should fill the minute or so of stage time she’s been allotted before singing “Younger Now.”
Referring to herself as “Miley’s creative director” during her rant on Thursday, Martel was overheard saying she envisions Cyrus doing a raunchy puppet show sketch to “show off her acting chops” and to jive with the new single’s music video concept. There was talk of a “puppet orgy, ” as well as an idea where one puppet “sniffs Miley’s privates” after she makes a joke about “keeping it clean down there.”
But Martel, appearing annoyed, claimed Cyrus’ manager, Adam Leber, wants Cyrus to use at least some of the time before she sings to talk about President Donald Trump in order to “make headlines.” Martel was then overheard calling Leber a “stupid a–hole manager, ” while an assistant compared working with Leber to working with a “smart little kid.”
Martel has directed videos for everyone from Beyoncé to Mariah Carey to Justin Timberlake .
When reached for comment by email, Martel told us: “No friction! Excitement! Mileys number will be sunrising and emotional, her new some [sic] younger Now is beautiful and contemplative and self written.”
Page Six left a message for Leber at his office.
A rep for the VMAs didn’ t immediately respond to a request for comment on Cyrus’ performance concept.
