LANSING, MI — The fifth largest Mega Millions jackpot ever has been won by a lucky player in Illinois. That player matched all five white numbers drawn and the Mega ball to become the winner of the $393 million jackpot, for the drawing held on Friday, Aug. 11.
A little over a month ago, that win would not have been possible as the state of Illinois had to suspend play of the Mega Millions and Powerball games due to a budget battle. Players were unable to buy tickets for over a week in those games.
Luckily for whomever won last night’s huge jackpot, that issues had been resolved.
The Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday, Aug. 15 will have a jackpot of $15 million with a cash option of $9 million.

Now that the Mega Millions jackpot has been won, players will turn their attention to the $352 million Powerball drawing scheduled for Saturday night, Aug. 12.

Mega Millions winners for Aug. 11:
Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Five balls are drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 75; the Mega ball is drawn from a set of balls numbered 1 through 15. The odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 259 million.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, plus the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Tickets cost $1 each.
