The University of New Hampshire is celebrating the 150th birthday of pioneering composer Amy Beach with an academic conference, concerts and a museum exhibit.

The University is marking her 150th birthday with an academic conference, musical performances and a museum exhibit. Beach, who was born in Henniker, NH., was the first female composer in America to write a symphony and gained international fame as the “dean of American women composers.”
