Hurricane Irma has strengthened again into a Category 3 storm, although it’s unclear whether she will hit the East Coast by next weekend or curve back out to sea.
The ‘cane is currently swirling over the Atlantic about 2,000 miles west of Africa and 1,000 miles east of the Leeward Island, with winds were nearing 115 mp, according to the National Hurricane Center.
But the center said it was too early to know what impact Irma could have on the Bahamas and United States, where there are no warnings or watches currently in effect.
If she does make landfall, locations from South Florida to New England could be affected.
Depending on conditions, Irma could even become a category 5 hurricane, the first seen since 2016’s Matthew.
