New Orleans tourism officials purchased a full-page ad in Sunday’s Houston Chronicle, which included words of comfort and support to our recently waterlogged city.

“I saw a letter from the people of New Orleans to the people of Texas after Hurricane Harvey,” Bono said to a packed house, before reading an excerpt from the moving note:
“This is New Orleans. This is America. And there’s nothing this country cannot achieve when you work together,” Bono continued. “When you work together as one. As one.”
The touching letter refers to 2005’s devastating Hurricane Katrina, when many New Orleans residents found themselves evacuating to Houston. The note concludes with: “We’re with you.”

Mark Romig, president of the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, explained why they felt compelled to share the message with Houston.
“Texas’ people took us in after Katrina,” Romig recently told Chron.com . “We remember the caring concern that Texas gave us. It didn’t take us long to realize this was the right thing to do.”

U2 is currently on its The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 tour. The band played in Houston in May. The tour wraps up Oct. 25 in São Paulo, Brazil.
